Toward a Future Where Products That Don't Harm the Earth Are Chosen

Hawaiian Sunscreen That Can Coexist with Marine Life

Under Hawaii state law, sunscreens containing ingredients harmful to the ocean and the natural environment have been banned from sale. In Japan, however, sunscreens still routinely contain "oxybenzone" and "octinoxate" — chemicals known to kill coral and marine life.

Unaware of this, Japanese travelers continue to pollute the waters of Waikiki and head home, day after day. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when tourists disappeared, the ocean off Waikiki returned to its original clarity — clear proof of the impact we have.

We believe that by deepening our understanding of the environment and spreading that awareness little by little, we can pass on nature even more beautiful than it is today to the next generation.

"SHAKA SUNSCREEN," a surf sunscreen made in Manoa, Hawaii, contains absolutely none of the chemicals known to kill coral or harm the ocean. Every ingredient is derived from nature.

Made with natural cacao powder, it carries a subtle chocolate aroma and is formulated to resist washing off while surfing. Available in three shades, it can be matched to each user's skin tone.

Because the product is formulated for Hawaii's climate, it can harden in Japan's winter temperatures. Simply warm it in the palm of your hand — the ingredients will soften and spread smoothly on application.

How to Use

Apply directly to the skin on your face, body, or any area that will be exposed to the sun 15 minutes before going outside. For proper sun protection, reapply every two hours, especially after entering the ocean. If the product feels firm, rub it between your palms to soften it for easier application. Do not use on irritated or broken skin.
